Agnieszka Kulczycka-Dopiera

Psychologist, Psychotherapist

Mobirise

„Don’t look for mental health only, search for self-development and you will find both.” (Kazimierz Dąbrowski)

Qualifications:

I have completed a Master Degree in Psychology (University of Warsaw) and postgraduate studies in clinical diagnosis (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, SWPS). I am also a qualified psychotherapist (Institute of Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy in Dublin). I do my best to continue my professional and personal development by attending different courses (for example: Body Psychotherapy Course, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy Course, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy). I am a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Gdańsk and I am particularly interested in cross-cultural psychology. I attend regular supervision and I work according to the professional code of ethics, which means that confidentiality and client’s good are one of the main aims of therapy.

Specialization:

I am an integrative psychotherapist, but my main therapeutic approach is Carl Roger’s Person Centred Therapy. I believe that no matter what we struggle with, it is important to work on the relationship that one has with themselves (it is a way a person experiences themselves, including thinking and feeling). I think that apart from the therapist’s competencies and client’s motivation, therapeutic relationship is one of the most healing factors in therapy. I do my best to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I also believe that emotional difficulties and crises can be an opportunity to get a better understanding of oneself and it can be an occasion for personal development as well.
Most of the time I work with people who experience:

  • difficult emotions (for example anxiety and sadness)
  • bereavement and challenging life changes/events
  • difficulties in relationships
